Monck Provincial Park is a provincial park in British Columbia, Canada, located at Nicola Lake near the town of Merritt.
Here are some additional pictures from our recent camping trip to Monck and day trip to Kentucky Alleyne Provincial Park.
We packed up the car last Friday after work and took off for a weekend of camping at Monck Provincial Park. The park is located near Merritt, BC and takes about 3 hours to get to from Vancouver, BC.
After checking in at the gatehouse we set up our tent in time to watch the sun go down over Nicola Lake.
The next morning we took off early to drive over to Kentucky Alleyne Provincial Park to explore the park and hike around Kentucky Lake. There is an easy 4km hiking trail that loops around the lake.
After spending most of the day exploring Kentucky Alleyne Provincial Park we headed back to Monck for a quick swim to cool off in the lake. There’s a day use area close to the park entrance which has a sandy beach and roped off swimming area. It was over 30 degrees so the cold dip in the lake was a welcome relief.
If you plan on camping at Monck Provincial Park the two tips I can give you is bring a hat with a wide brim and plenty of sunscreen. There isn’t much shade in the campsites at this park and the summer heat can be brutal.
All in all a fun weekend trip away!
